Manchester is my miracle city.
I experienced many colours and shapes here. I observed the movements of those who gave it life and ignored the stillness of those who fell into its magic puddle.
Inspired by the vast array of machines, engines parts and tools that decorated my grandfathers shed.
As a child, I would sit with him in his little private utopia where he could invent and fix things. He tinkered, smoking his pipe and casually smiling at me. I particularly remember a table where an assortment of engines, tools, equipment would constantly rest.
A large window behind the table would cast light into the dark room, clashing with the bits and creating a silhouette of a city.
Alight city captures that visual and my experiences in his shed. His love for machinery forms a city landscape with reflection,
the floating light representing granddads incredible zest and spirit, his essence. I miss him so much.
