Having said that, he is also an interesting person to observe in our icon worshipping society. Over the years, David evolved from a world-class footballer to a worldwide celebrity, beyond all sports. His involvement in pop culture, politics and entertainment have elevated his public persona to superstardom. He actively courts attention and significance, especially with his physical form in marketing. Still, he is just a guy, like any other guy. Does he enjoy being at the centre of everything or does he resent the position that he, the media and public have helped him to reach?
